Arca Vision is a software company with a focus on AI. This essay is about applying that work in regulated settings — not a claim that government, healthcare, or security is the company.

The default pattern, an API round-trip through a vendor cloud, is a poor fit for those environments. Local-first AI is one way to keep the data inside a named boundary.

Settings, not the brand

Government, healthcare, and security are settings where this architecture can matter. They are not the company identity:

  • PHI that cannot leave a clinic.
  • Mission data that cannot leave a network.
  • Credentials that should never touch a multi-tenant vault.

AI is a focus of the company. The constraint in these settings is the same: keep sensitive inputs inside a trust boundary you can name.

What local-first means here

Models run on-device or inside a controlled perimeter. Inference stays in the same trust boundary as the input. Outputs do not leak through a telemetry pipeline. The tradeoff is scale; the gain is sovereignty, auditability, and a threat model you can actually write down.

We do not claim that every model should run on a laptop. We claim that the tasks which must stay local should not inherit a SaaS control plane by default.

The product proof
